“DiverCity” Social-Cultural, Human Rights Defender NGO celebrating #IDAHOBIT2022 within the framework of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia on May 17 and on the occasion of the #PrideMonth, published a series of podcasts combined in #5PrideStories.

The main aim of #IDAHOBIT is to raise the visibility of LGBTQ+ people.

DCNGO has joined the global celebration since its establishment and in 2021, we published a video which is available here.

The five series of #5PrideStories was created with the support of ECOM (The Eurasian Coalition on Health, Rights, Gender and Sexual Diversity), with the financial support of the Robert Carr civil society Networks Fund (CSF). It is dedicated to the fight against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia #IDAHOBIT2022.

You are listening to the “The Voice of Diversity” media which is introducing to you the 3rd episode of the #5PrideStories podcast chain. It hosts trans woman Alice Wednesday.

Alice is a 3D modeler. They work in Armenia and remotely for an American agency.

Alice thinks that their self-discovery has been late. They say, “I have lived a whole life hiding myself and only when at 25 years old I realized that I could not agree with all of this anymore. Maybe I will never forgive myself for that but that is giving me power and will to be the person I am today because I cannot and do not want to turn back”.

Alice is sure about the following: if one is able to not break down and move forward after each fall, and try to do more, everything will definitely work out. It is essential to order priorities correctly.

When Alice is talking about their fears, they say, “I have developed a rule for me. Before taking any action, I ask myself whether what I am going to do is wrong or illegal. I use a logic chain. When I’m looking for a job or applying for it somewhere, I think that heteronormative and heterosexual people are being hired the same way I am, so there’s no difference between me and them. Work must be primary for the employer”.

Alice is sure that there will be time in Armenia with no discrimination, suspicious gaze, etc. They say that Armenia cannot dictate rules, neglecting the existence of the LGBTQ+ community.
